Martha's Vineyard 2008

Edward and I finally found time to get away for some R&R. It rained quite a bit while we were there, so I did not take my camera out as often as I would have liked. All in all we had a great time.

Here are some photos of our partially rained out vacation.

Edward and Blizzard enjoying the sunset together

Blizzard is just too cool!

Dark clouds of raining rolling in above us

So with nothing else to do, why not bother the dog? (Photo by Edward)

I think these quiet and simple moments are why Martha's Vineyard is so popular

But not everyone is here to relax

After waking up early in hopes of capturing the beautiful sunrises and staying out for sunset, this is what I have waiting for me to get back. Isn't Blizzard just the cutest! I suppose Edward's pretty okay too, after all... I let him sleep in the bed.

The Gingerbread Cottages

For anyone that is familiar with Martha's Vineyard, these is are The Gingerbread Cottages of Oak Bluffs. There are over 300 of these cottages which were built in the mid 1800s. They have been preserved with pristine care, attention to detail, and brilliant colors. The owners of these cottages, have a inviting sense of humor as they have nickname for their home. Names such as "The Pink House", "Sea Shrimp Cottage", or "Wooden Valentine" are adorned on many of these homes.

The cottage started out as campground tents for members of the community church. In the middle of this circle of houses, the original Tabernacle still stands.

This one is said to be one of the most photographed houses of them all
